"I started my first shop over the summer, the first weekend after the referendum," said Emma Davies, who moved to Northern Ireland in August 2017 to raise awareness and funds to help rebuild families in Stormont.
"After an awful few months, it was like opening a new chapter," added Emma, who is the second-oldest of the six sisters with the first two sister sisters, who became a local and lived with her parents, until they moved abroad.
"We were lucky that my sisters were on their own, we were all struggling for every penny we had."
The women have since come up with ways for members of the public to help with the fundraising campaign, including writing cheques or letters to donate to the Northern Ireland Campaign through their website.
The women said the most recent letter they received – from Liza Burt, a mother of two young daughters with Down Syndrome, gave them a good idea how to deal with their own financial strain, adding that the outpouring of support that has been generated has made them feel like a normal family again.
While some of the girls live with their parents overseas, several of them have not, and are living with grandparents in Germany while their parents face difficulties in raising the children.
The girls say they plan to make the journey to Germany once they have reached middle age next year, just for fun, to go see their grandparents and celebrate their independence.
One of the sisters, who gave her surname only as Elizabeth, said: "It's nice that everybody here is fighting back. The boys are more likely to say 'It's the girls' fault because they're less educated or more rural and people don't care about them.
"I know the girls who moved to Ireland and we're not there yet, we've just made it so that the British are going to leave, not that Ireland doesn't need to be left.
"We've been living like normal children here for some time."
The Belfast Sun can reveal the girls are one of the first young women to take part in a Northern Ireland women's network, in which they talk, write, eat meals, go on workshops and socialise.
The women are also encouraging friends and family to join them in Northern Ireland to visit each other's houses and to help raise funds.
